(Originaltext und Titel sind falsch: Dabei handelt es sich nicht um „Grenztruppen“ sondern um „Polizisten“ in Ableistung ihres Wehrdienstes bei der Bereitschaftspolizei der Volkspolizeibereitschaft aus Potsdam-Eiche. Diese wurden immer zu Ordnungseinsätzen usw. nach Berlin verbracht und empfanden dieses als willkommene Abwechslung während der Ableistung des Wehrdienstes.)
English: Police personnel (NCOs and enlisted men) of the East German Volkspolizei wait for the official opening of the Brandenburg Gate december 22nd 1989.
(Original text "East German guards wait for the official opening of the Brandenburg Gate" and the title is wrong: These are not officers of the border guards (Grenztruppen der DDR), but the support and rapid reaction units of the police (Bereitschaftspolizei der Volkspolizei). These were used as additional support for special events.)

(La didascalia ed il titolo originale della fotografia sono errati: Infatti questi non sono ufficiali delle Guardie di frontiera della RDT (Grenztruppen der DDR) ma membri delle unità di intervento rapido della Polizia (Bereitschaftspolizei der Volkspolizei) unità che venivano utilizzate spesso durante eventi di particolare rilevanza.
